To Bev...

The body is not a prison
to a spirit I know
Who refuses to be silenced
who refuses to be denied
all while inviting others inside

While most might retreat
even further inward
Her chair spins the irrepressible
sixteen step in an exuberant
celebration of life

Country tunes and friends fill
a heart already brimming
With thoughts others of us
would no doubt deny ourselves
and be much the lesser for it

There is so much we need to learn
but her role is not to teach --
Her spirit is open
for all who can see
and don't stand in her way

A message for Bev:
I'm grateful I know you.
